Fire Cupping

What Is Fire Cupping?

Fire Cupping therapy is a technique that uses small glass cups or bamboo jars as suction devices that are placed on the skin. Suction is created by placing an inverted cup over a small flame before placing the cup on the skin. Once placed, the cups can be left in place, or gently moved across the skin.

Fire Cupping Benefits

Fire Cupping is much like the inverse of massage – rather than applying pressure to muscles, it uses gentle pressure to pull them upward. Cupping can be combined with acupuncture or Shiatsu massage in one treatment; but it can also be used alone.

Cupping massage benefits uses negative pressure to loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Massage cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even things like colds and breathing problems.

Boise Fire Cupping Therapist

Here at Radiant Earth Acupuncture we practice Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). We do not use rubber pumps to create suction, rather the natural fire cupping method.

When the hot cup is placed on your skin, the air inside the cup cools and creates a vacuum that draws the skin and muscle upward into the cup. Your skin may turn red as the blood vessels respond to the change in pressure.

As a Chinese Cupping therapist in Boise, we are careful to monitor bruises and marks from massage.
